  3. Where is a good place to buy a guitar and what is a good starter guitar

  4. This was perfect. I have no knowledge of electric guitars but would like to get one within this year. Love my accoustic but it's time to try something new. This was great info! Thanks!

  5. But if you buy used, how do you ensure that there is no serious problem with the guitar, that will be expensive to fix? Do you have any pointers, from your own experience, on what look out for?

  6. I like les Paul style n sound of it …..i have a budget of 15k INR or $222 should i buy a used second hand guitar or go for a brand new first hand guitar……n also Erich plz me by giving me name of specific guitar…..i mentioned my likings…..

  8. Been watching your channel since before I even bought a guitar. I like it that much. With my first electric I didn't think to ask these particular questions but I did watch a whole lot of videos and really did my research since I only have one guitar shop in this little town. I bought a piece of crap $80 best choice acoustic that I knew was only for learning chords and practice. The action was seven credit cards tall. really bad lol. When I was ready I went with a Chapman and I couldn't be happier. Heard a lot of positive and negative about fender this and Les Paul that and such. I don't regret my choice it's just the one I made, the thing is amazing. All the while your videos have been a fantastic tool for my growth as a player learning properly this time. thank you so much for them.

  9. Pff. I really love too learn play the guitar. I have to do it now with a nameless 50 year old something. He has 5 strings. 1 broke. The tuning machines fall a part. The neck is really like a banana. Also when I plug him in, I am afraid that my house burns down. So I just keep trying to learn something on him and watch these movies on YouTube. Only all the people around me keep running away. He sounds horrible.

  13. Hi Erich, Jonathan here! Greetings! Thank you so much for the video and advice. Great stuff for this beginner. Learned much!!! Have a great weekend.

  14. You should talk about the floyd rose bridge. I would not recommend one to a beginner.

  15. Lightning Wrecker

Come on man get back to doin the song lessons!

  16. I have 43 guitars and I watched this. Because, I watch all of your videos. So number 3 it is. LOL

  17. Jean-Luc Defer

    Take a telecaster, it's never a mistake.

  18. As a new player without experience on a variety of guitars, when I go to have my guitar set up, how low should I have them make the action? Is there a general range that's best for beginners, or do I want them to go as low as possible before issues like string buzzing can crop up? Does string gauge affect this choice?

  19. I need your energy lol. Awesome informative video brother. ~John

  20. Which guitar should I buy so I don't have to practice anymore?

OK, I'm messing with ya. More seriously:
Seems to me in my ignorance, that how an electric plays depends on the setup (string height, neck, etc) but how it sounds will depend on a lot on the amp. Any thoughts?
    Practice amps vs performance amps?

The first guitar that I bought that actually belonged to me and learned about what I was actually doing was the Epiphone EJ-200 jumbo acoustic.. I eventually sold it because something was wrong with it. I probably should’ve sent it back to Gibson because that was a beautiful guitar..
I ended up getting a Recording King ROH-06 because it’s similar to a Martin in tone.
I actually got a First Act for Christmas when I was ten but couldn’t concentrate and played with my dads Decco acoustic which was also garbage…
I still have the Recording King and for electric I’m playing an Epiphone SG G-400 Pro with a B5 Bigsby….and I love it.
I’m thinking of replacing the pickups on the SG… and possibly going to sell the Recording King..
I’m in middle of upgrading my pedalboard..waiting for the chance to get a Boss TE-2, MXR Carbon Copy, MXR Uni-Vibe, EHX POG2 or MicroPOG, and some kind of modulation pedal like the EHX B9, EHX Superego+, and/or Hologram Electronics Dream Sequence..
…and upgrading my amp rig as well (Marshall MG Series head and cab)

I’m eventually getting another acoustic and I’m aiming for a Martin, Guild or something that catches my eye… or just find another good 12-string acoustic… really liking the Fender Villager or one day get the Guild 12-string that Tim Buckley played…

I also have a cheap Harmony that I plan to repair, replace the pick guard(help?), give it a psychedelic paint job, and install an EYB Sitar Bridge or the same one that’s on the Danelectro Baby Sitar…

    Woooo!!!!

Lots of stuff sell and repair…
    Replacing rare pickguards? Help?

#1 Whatever my wife will let me get away with spending
#2 Agreed, I bought what my favorite players play.
#3 Feel, not sure, neck diameter maybe, action height…
#4 Like Humbuckers but not for that reason (don't like fuzz) Strat's got Shawbucker, Gretsch has 2 Humbuckers
#5 After one year since buying online, I went to a Luthier who transformed my Strat like a miracle
#6 Don't like used in anything, no one could ever treat my stuff as well as I will, so I think.

  28. This would have been much more helpful to me 59 years ago :0)

  29. Thanks Erich, great advice as always. What if we are buying online new or used. That seems like a completely different ball game.

  30. All you've succeeded in doing is convincing me that I need another guitar. Cheers Erich, great video!

  31. jordan harding
